"Economy of Values. New Trends" — book design

2023

Scope: Creation of original illustrations and development of a cohesive visual system addressing themes of philosophy, sociology, and economics; design of a visual navigation language for the publication; graphic design of accompanying materials; editorial design, typesetting, and layout; cover design.

This project involved the creation of illustrations and editorial design for a socio-economic publication focused on values, society, and contemporary challenges. The goal was to translate complex and abstract ideas into a clear and engaging visual language, combining illustration with structured layout design.

Concept and visual language

The visual system is based on symbolic and architectural forms, reflecting abstract social and economic ideas. The full layout was developed with attention to the illustrations and their visual language: each chapter received a corresponding signet and a related set of visual elements.

Editorial design and layout

The publication was designed with attention to structure, rhythm, and readability, balancing image and text. The layout had to accommodate technical insertions while preserving the humanistic character of the essayistic form.

Readability and flow

The layout supports intuitive navigation and clear information hierarchy across the publication.

Illustration as communication

Each illustration interprets a specific concept, supporting the text and guiding the reader through the narrative. The visual materials also include diagrams, and all introductory assets were designed to remain consistent with the illustration system itself.

Outcome

The result is a coherent visual system combining illustration and editorial design, supporting clarity and reader engagement.
